Rocket Lab is seeking a Senior Network Software Engineer to join the Space Systems team in Littleton, CO. This role focuses on developing and managing software for space-to-space communications, space-to-ground communications, payload software, and data security systems across Rocket Lab's spacecraft constellation.
You will manage the software development and integration of routers, radios, and laser communication devices deployed on multiple spacecraft. Key responsibilities include managing suppliers and subcontractors to develop and test integrated systems, interfacing with internal teams and external partners to maintain product development plans and meet milestones, and designing simulation and test approaches for constellation networking.
You will define key performance indicators for contractors and internal teams, establish development cadences for feature delivery, develop staffing plans with senior leadership, plan major integration points and testing between teams, and drive best practices for feedback collection and continuous improvement. You will also develop and maintain software development standards and procedures to ensure all deliverables meet the highest quality standards and customer requirements.
The role reports to the Head of Flight Software and requires managing complex embedded systems for government programs with emphasis on secure network systems. RF and spacecraft experience are valued. This position requires an active Secret security clearance with eligibility to obtain TS/SCI, and U.S. citizenship is mandatory due to program requirements.
Rocket Lab builds rockets, spacecraft, and critical subsystems for missions ranging from interplanetary exploration to national security initiatives, partnering with NASA, the Space Development Agency, and the U.S. Space Force.
