Rocket Lab is seeking a Senior Network Software Engineer II to lead software development efforts for space-to-space and space-to-ground communications systems on a constellation of spacecraft. This role manages the full software development lifecycle for routers, radios, and laser communication devices, including supplier and subcontractor coordination. Key responsibilities include: managing software development and integration of communication systems across spacecraft; overseeing suppliers and subcontractors through the development and testing cycle; interfacing with internal teams, consultants, and external partners to maintain product development plans and meet milestones; designing simulation and test approaches for constellation networking; defining KPIs for contractors and development teams; establishing cadence for feature releases; developing staffing plans with senior leadership; planning major integration points and cross-team testing; driving best practices for feedback collection and continuous improvement; and establishing software development standards to ensure quality and compliance with customer requirements. The successful candidate will have 8+ years of relevant industry experience, a bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, aerospace engineering, or similar technical discipline. Required qualifications include comprehensive knowledge of network software, familiarity with the software development lifecycle, experience with Jira, systems engineering methods (trades, requirements management, performance characterization, interface management), and an active Secret security clearance with eligibility for TS/SCI. U.S. citizenship is required due to program requirements. Nice-to-have qualifications include a master's degree in aerospace, computer science, or electrical engineering; active TS/SCI clearance; experience with SDA NEBULA architectures; cybersecurity controls and encryption experience; team leadership experience with agile methodologies; project management certifications (PMP, APMP); and proficiency with project and engineering management tools.
