Pico is a global financial services infrastructure company providing market data services and managed infrastructure solutions to the capital markets community. The company operates from headquarters in New York with offices across Chicago, London, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Tokyo. As a Senior Network Engineer, you will translate business requirements into robust network architecture, converting availability, performance, and regulatory needs into technical designs. Key responsibilities include creating high-level design documents depicting logical architecture and traffic flow, defining design principles focused on scalability, resilience, simplicity, and standardization, and strategizing methods to improve overall network infrastructure with a low-latency profile—critical for financial trading environments. You will design and deploy customer networks with emphasis on automation, security, and operability. This includes evaluating vendors, platforms, and protocols for long-term fit, supporting both internal and external customer-facing issues as a point of escalation, and managing project tickets through completion. You will construct valid configurations for implementation and implement critical configuration changes through established change control processes with minimal guidance. Required qualifications include 10-14 years of experience working on network equipment in ISP-style environments or large NOCs, and 7-10 years with Fortinet, Arista, and/or Cisco hardware and software. You must hold CCIE or JNCIE certification or equivalent knowledge. Expert-level understanding is required in IP protocols (ICMP, UDP, TCP), firewalls and VPNs, routing protocols (BGP, OSPF), multicast routing (IGMP, PIM), NAT, network sniffers, and network timing (NTP, PTP). Additional skills include scripting in Bash or Python, Linux familiarity, and JIRA ticketing system experience. You should be an excellent communicator capable of analyzing and diagnosing problems and leading system recovery. The role requires self-motivation, ability to work with minimal supervision, creative problem-solving, and a commitment to continuous skill development. This is a hybrid position with weekly office time in New York and flexibility to work from home. Travel may be required occasionally to support multiple geographies (EMEA, USA, APAC).
