Lightning AI is seeking a Senior Network Engineer with hands-on expertise in Cumulus Linux and modern data center networking to design and scale the network backbone powering their AI infrastructure platform. You'll work on highly reliable, automated networks supporting demanding AI workloads at scale.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design and deploy scalable spine/leaf network architectures optimized for AI data centers
- Engineer high-performance Ethernet fabrics supporting GPU clusters and AI training/inference workloads
- Build and maintain EVPN/VXLAN, BGP, and high-speed routing environments
- Optimize east-west traffic flows for AI operations and support RoCE/RDMA networking for low-latency transport
- Manage backbone, DCI, WAN, and edge connectivity solutions
- Develop automation and Infrastructure-as-Code solutions for network provisioning and operations
- Troubleshoot complex network performance and congestion issues across distributed environments
- Improve network observability, telemetry, and operational visibility
- Collaborate with compute, storage, AI platform, and operations teams on integrated infrastructure solutions
You bring hands-on experience with SONiC and Junos, cloud networking technologies (VPCs, NFV, Direct Connect, Cloud Connect), and a strong foundation in data center network design. You're comfortable with high autonomy, can independently prioritize work, and understand how your contributions map to company goals. You value clear documentation and are willing to venture outside your comfort zone when needed.
