Fervo Energy is building cost-effective, repeatable geothermal power plants. The Senior Network Architect is the technical authority for network strategy and architecture across corporate IT, hybrid cloud, and operating sites. This senior individual contributor role owns long-term direction, standards, governance, and lifecycle strategy for the network domain, ensuring Fervo's enterprise and operational environments remain secure, resilient, scalable, and supportable as the company scales.
Key responsibilities include establishing enterprise-wide network strategy and target-state architecture across corporate, cloud, WAN, SD-WAN, wireless, and operating-site environments. The architect will set architectural standards and governance for the Fortinet Security Fabric, establish secure integration patterns between Fortinet-based IT networks and Cisco-based operational technology environments, and govern reference architectures and configuration standards. This role serves as the final technical authority for significant network design decisions and owns the network capability roadmap and maturity model.
The architect will define and sponsor the roadmap for version-controlled, automated network provisioning through CI/CD, establish reusable automation patterns using FortiManager, APIs, Python, Ansible, and Terraform, and set governance for testing and validation of automated changes. Strategic platform decisions across SASE, SD-WAN, and zero-trust network access (ZTNA) are core responsibilities, including evaluation of Cato and Fortinet options.
Delivery and operations responsibilities include providing hands-on technical leadership during critical deployments, commissioning, and major upgrades across Fortinet and Cisco infrastructure. The architect serves as the highest technical escalation point for complex network incidents, directs root-cause analysis, and owns network architecture for new geothermal sites, plant commissioning, and site expansions. This role also directs modernization of regional offices onto Fervo's standard architecture and defines network observability and performance strategy using FortiAnalyzer.
The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in enterprise network architecture, Fortinet Security Fabric, Cisco networking, SD-WAN, cloud integration, and infrastructure-as-code automation. Experience with geothermal, energy infrastructure, or operational technology environments is valuable but not required.
