K2 Space is building the largest and highest-power satellites ever flown, with over $1 billion in total funding and $1 billion in signed contracts across commercial and US government customers. The company is mass-producing advanced satellite platforms for missions from low Earth orbit to deep space, capitalizing on the era of heavy-lift launch vehicles and mass abundance. As a Senior Modeling & Simulation Engineer, you will develop the modeling and simulation capabilities that enable K2 to design, verify, and operate spacecraft for demanding national security missions. You will simulate and verify the software that flies and orchestrates some of the largest satellites ever built, and model how those systems perform against real mission objectives, threats, and operational constraints. In your first three months, you will generalize simulation tools to operate in classified contexts, modeling multiple spacecraft and mission profiles while demonstrating robust performance in contested and demanding environments. By month six, you will design many-agent, mission-level simulations and tools for operating entire constellations, directly informing mission assurance and critical company decisions. Key responsibilities include developing mission-level modeling and simulation of national security space missions; modeling and analyzing constellation-level capability and performance against mission requirements including network coverage, beam planning, and resilience; creating and maintaining simulation software infrastructure for 20kW+ spacecraft; developing physics-based software models of spacecraft subsystems (propulsion, attitude control, power, communications); performing data analysis and anomaly investigation for on-orbit problems; supporting integration and testing of spacecraft subsystems; and setting technical direction while mentoring junior engineers. This role requires an active TS/SCI clearance (or held within the last 12 months), US citizenship, and prior experience working on classified national security programs in secure/SCIF environments. Work is performed on-site in a secure environment. K2 has multiple launches planned for 2027 and aims to scale to 100 satellites per year.
