Abby Care is building an AI-native platform for family-led care, addressing America's growing care crisis by empowering the 50+ million family caregivers who support loved ones. The company combines clinical oversight with AI-powered technology to train, enable, and support family caregivers in delivering high-quality home care, while helping health plans and government partners improve transparency and outcomes in home-based care delivery.
As a Senior Mobile Engineer (React Native), you will report to the Director of Product Engineering and own the full development lifecycle of mobile products from concept to delivery. You'll take architectural ownership of rebuilding the mobile experience to be truly AI-native, working across product definition, development, user testing, and launch cycles. You'll partner closely with cross-functional teams—operations, clinical, compliance, product—to solve real-world problems in healthcare delivery. Your role includes defining technical initiatives, deepening expertise in specialized areas (product development, cloud infrastructure, machine learning, data security), and building greenfield systems using the latest AI advancements while upholding healthcare industry standards.
This is a full-time hybrid role based in San Francisco. You'll work in a 0→1 environment with high ownership, helping shape the engineering team's DNA and product roadmap as a key early engineer. The work has direct, tangible impact on how family caregivers provide care to at-risk populations.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 5+ years of professional software development experience with a proven track record of building, scaling, and maintaining complex applications in production
- Deep expertise in React Native; you will be the architectural force behind the mobile platform rebuild
- Product-minded approach to development, obsessing over end-user experience to build intuitive tools for caregivers and patients
- Strong engineering foundation (Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field preferred)
- Architectural thinking and ability to solve hard problems
STRONGLY PREFERRED:
- Experience leveraging AI tools (Cursor, Copilot, Claude) to accelerate output and interest in establishing an AI-native development culture
- Familiarity with backend development, particularly Python and/or modern web frameworks, to connect AI services to mobile clients
- Knowledge of Android environment and native Android development
- Experience thriving in fast-paced startup environments with high ownership and rapid iteration
- Experience in healthtech industry or deep personal motivation to build high-stakes software that improves human health and home care
