Anduril Industries is a defense technology company transforming U.S. and allied military capabilities through advanced technology. The company develops Lattice OS, an AI-powered operating system that integrates thousands of data streams into real-time 3D command and control centers, bringing cutting-edge autonomy, AI, computer vision, sensor fusion, and networking to military systems.
The Imaging team builds and fields state-of-the-art camera and sensor systems deployed to solve real security challenges. This role is part of the Imaging Interfaces team and focuses on mission software engineering with a unique emphasis on fielded system support rather than pure product development.
You will own the health and uptime of deployed imaging systems, triaging and diagnosing issues across the full stack (hardware, firmware, networking, and software). The work is varied: you might spend a morning extending a gRPC service, an afternoon diagnosing a time sync issue on a deployed device over the phone with a field operator, and a week traveling to support a customer integration.
Key responsibilities include:
- Owning fielded system success and driving resolution when issues arise, regardless of root cause
- Building and maintaining production services that run on edge-compute devices in austere environments
- Supporting field operations by working directly with field operators and non-technical users to diagnose and resolve issues
- Serving as a subject matter expert in integrations with other products and teams, both remotely and on-site
- Developing end-to-end system understanding across hardware, firmware, networking, and software
- Collaborating across firmware, hardware, and platform engineering teams
- Traveling approximately 15% of the time for field testing and customer integrations
This role requires comfort with ambiguity and a desire to own software end-to-end in a fast-moving environment where the stakes are real.
REQUIREMENTS:
Required:
- 5+ years of software development experience with meaningful production responsibility—owning systems after they ship, not just shipping features
- Strong Python and C++ skills; ability to work effectively in either language
- 5+ years working in Linux-based environments, including bare-metal hardware
- Demonstrated ability to diagnose and resolve issues across system boundaries (networking, services, hardware interaction) without full visibility into every component
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including ability to explain technical problems clearly to non-technical audiences
- Willingness to travel approximately 15% of the time for field testing and customer integrations
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret clearance
Preferred:
- Experience with gRPC or similar RPC frameworks
- Familiarity with systems service management and observability practices on Linux
- React/JSX experience
- Familiarity with Nix or NixOS
- Experience supporting fielded or deployed systems, not just development environments
