Anduril Industries is seeking a Senior Mission Software Engineer to join the Imaging Interfaces team. This role focuses on owning fielded imaging systems end-to-end, from development through field deployment and customer support.
You will be responsible for the health and uptime of deployed imaging systems, triaging and resolving issues across the full stack (hardware, firmware, networking, software). The work is varied: you might extend a gRPC service in the morning, diagnose a time-sync issue on a deployed device over the phone in the afternoon, and travel to support a customer integration the following week.
Key responsibilities include:
- Owning fielded system success and driving resolution when issues arise
- Building and maintaining production services that run on edge-compute devices in austere environments
- Supporting field operators and non-technical users to diagnose and resolve deployed hardware issues
- Serving as a subject matter expert in integrations with other products and teams
- Developing broad fluency across the hardware, firmware, networking, and software stack
- Collaborating across firmware, hardware, and platform engineering teams
- Traveling approximately 15% of the time for field testing and customer integrations
Required qualifications: 5+ years of software development with meaningful production responsibility; strong Python and C++ skills; 5+ years working in Linux-based environments including bare-metal hardware; demonstrated ability to diagnose issues across system boundaries; strong written and verbal communication; willingness to travel 15%; eligibility for U.S. Secret clearance.
Preferred: gRPC or similar RPC framework experience; Linux systems service management and observability; React/JSX; Nix/NixOS; experience supporting fielded or deployed systems.
