Salary: USD 250,000 - 300,000 / annual
Voyager Technologies is seeking a Senior Mission Concept Engineer to lead the definition and development of lunar technologies and missions for NASA, government, and commercial customers. Based in Pittsburgh with hybrid flexibility, you will own end-to-end mission concept development, from initial architecture through detailed system design.
Key responsibilities include: developing and reviewing concepts for lunar landers, rovers, surface power systems, and spacecraft; owning technical content creation for mission opportunities and internal programs; establishing system-level technical vision by connecting customer needs with feasible, high-performing solutions; conducting trade studies to support technical and programmatic decisions; performing system-level analysis and sizing of space systems; developing and managing system budgets, margins, and bills of materials; contributing to schedules, resourcing, and budget estimations; decomposing requirements into actionable design tasks; participating in customer and partner technical interchanges; translating customer requirements into product goals and system architectures for proposals and stakeholder presentations; and leading cross-functional team meetings to ensure engineering solutions align with mission, business, and technology roadmap objectives.
You will work within Advanced Programs, the company's earliest-stage development group responsible for mission concept definition, long-term technology roadmapping, and breakthrough technology development that powers next-generation lunar systems.
Required: B.S. in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related discipline plus 10 years of relevant engineering experience (advanced degree may substitute for some experience). Demonstrated expertise in space system development, systems engineering, structures/thermal design, avionics, power systems, propulsion, orbital mechanics, electrical systems, mechanical/fluid systems, software/controls, modeling/simulation, or manufacturing. Experience developing technical content for proposals and customer presentations. Proficiency authoring and decomposing mission and system-level requirements. Strong understanding of launch, space, and lunar environments.
Desired: Full end-to-end mission solution experience; mission architecture development background; software scripting for automation and analysis; NASA/industry engineering standards knowledge; agile environment experience with Confluence and Jira; eligibility for U.S. security clearance.
