Blitzy is an AI software development platform headquartered in Cambridge, MA that autonomously builds custom software to transform the enterprise software development lifecycle. The company is backed by tier-1 investors and founded by experienced entrepreneurs.
As Senior Member of Technical Staff, you will serve as a key engineering leader reporting to the CTO, responsible for scaling Blitzy's engineering organization and driving technical strategy across the platform. This role combines hands-on technical leadership with organizational scaling—you'll partner directly with the CTO to define engineering strategy, build and lead high-performing teams, and make critical architectural decisions that shape the platform's future.
Key responsibilities include: building and scaling a high-performing engineering organization with strong hiring, onboarding, and career development processes; driving the technical roadmap and architecture decisions that ensure reliability, security, and performance at scale; establishing engineering rigor through code quality standards, CI/CD practices, incident response, and on-call processes; developing and mentoring engineering managers and senior individual contributors to create a strong leadership bench; and representing engineering in company-wide strategic planning and board-level updates.
You will own engineering strategy and execution across multiple teams, ensuring on-time, high-quality delivery while balancing short-term delivery pressure with long-term platform investment. You'll recruit and retain top engineering talent, establish clear career ladders and performance frameworks, and foster an engineering culture rooted in ownership, craftsmanship, and speed. Additionally, you'll implement and continuously improve engineering processes including agile planning, code review, CI/CD, testing, and incident management, while owning platform reliability, security, and performance metrics.
Required: 8+ years of software engineering experience including 4+ years in engineering leadership roles; proven track record building and scaling engineering teams at high-growth companies; deep technical expertise in modern software architecture, distributed systems, and cloud infrastructure; experience managing engineering managers and building leadership benches; strong shipping record on complex software products; excellent communication skills for executive and board presentations; ability to balance technical depth with strategic business thinking; and experience in fast-paced, high-ambiguity startup environments.
Preferred qualifications include experience at AI/ML or developer tools companies, background in autonomous systems or agentic AI, scaling engineering orgs through hypergrowth (Series A to C+), building engineering culture that attracts top talent, hands-on technical credibility, enterprise-grade security and compliance experience, and MBA or equivalent business acumen.
