Helion is a fusion power company on a mission to build the world's first commercial fusion power plant. Helion's prototype, Polaris, has achieved record-breaking plasma temperatures of 150 million degrees Celsius. In this role, you will own the design and development of novel high-vacuum systems for Helion's fusion generators. You will drive complete system definition from requirements derivation through hardware commissioning, including high-level CONOPs, P&IDs, and component selection. This is a hands-on position where you will work alongside experienced technicians to implement your designs, perform engineering analysis using in-house and external tools, and conduct design reviews to iterate toward fully functioning systems. You will troubleshoot hardware issues on integrated fusion generators, work cross-functionally to negotiate interfaces with other subsystems, and expand your engineering skillset by learning from domain experts. The role reports to the Senior Manager of Mechanical Engineering and is based onsite in Everett. Required qualifications include a bachelor's degree in engineering and 5+ years of professional experience delivering full-scope engineering projects with schedule ownership. You should have hands-on exposure to multiple engineering disciplines (fluids, mechanical, controls), experience applying first-principles and method-based thinking to challenging problems, and proficiency with CAD software such as NX or Solidworks.
