RobCo is building autonomous industrial robotics solutions that combine hardware, software, and AI to automate factory operations. As Senior Mechanical Engineer - Robotics, you will lead end-to-end mechanical design cycles for complex robotic systems, from initial concept through CAD modeling, prototyping, and production delivery.
Key responsibilities include establishing engineering standards and scalable design processes for a fast-growing scale-up environment, mentoring junior and peer engineers on modern mechanical standards and documentation practices, and designing high-precision mechanisms that integrate motion systems, actuators, and electrical/mechatronic components into modular architectures.
You will drive design-for-manufacturability (DFM) and design-for-test (DFT) best practices, collaborating directly with contract manufacturers to optimize bill-of-materials costs, sourcing strategies, and engineering change control. You'll execute detailed structural calculations, engineering drawings, and geometric dimensioning & tolerancing (GD&T) to ensure reliable field performance.
The role requires running projects end-to-end—planning, budgeting, and managing timelines—while collaborating cross-functionally with electronics, software, and physical AI teams to validate hardware against real-world operational constraints. You'll proactively identify bottlenecks and establish dynamic hardware development processes to accelerate time-to-market.
Required qualifications: vocational training or degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or Systems Engineering; several years of hands-on full-cycle product development across multiple companies; deep CAD proficiency (preferably SolidWorks); proven experience designing motion control systems, actuators, sensors, and mechatronic hardware integration; hands-on DFM/DFT expertise and direct contract manufacturer experience; proactive, high-ownership mindset; very good English (German a plus). Robotics or industrial automation experience is a nice-to-have.
