Salary: USD 150,000 - 185,000 / annual

Arc is electrifying the marine industry by rethinking powertrains, software, and vessel designs from first principles. The company has proven its core technology with consumer products and is now scaling production while expanding into commercial applications (tugs, ferries, defense) with signed contracts across vessel types. You will own major boat systems end-to-end—from specification through design, prototyping, validation, and high-volume manufacturing. Your responsibilities include: • Designing and releasing hardware across composite structures (hull, deck, stringers, hatches, hardtop with Class A surfacing), interiors and mechanisms (upholstery, tower, windshield, storage), and marine systems (ballast, bilge, steering, cooling, surf tabs) • Defining system requirements and leading design reviews, making tradeoffs across performance, weight, cost, and manufacturability • Leading prototyping through on-water testing, root-causing failures, and driving fixes into production • Integrating with battery, powertrain, electrical, and controls teams on packaging and interfaces • Partnering with industrial design, suppliers, and manufacturing on design-for-manufacturability and next-generation products • Mentoring engineers and setting the technical bar for the team • Working hands-on in production and traveling to suppliers as needed You will report to the Lead Mechanical Engineer and work with a lean, high-trust team where everyone's work matters. This is a full-time, on-site role at Arc's Los Angeles headquarters. REQUIREMENTS: • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related Engineering field • 5+ years of industry experience, including taking hardware from concept through production • Expert in CAD (NX preferred, CATIA, or SolidWorks) with strong command of PLM systems (Teamcenter preferred) • Experience working with composite structures • Strong engineering fundamentals with hands-on use of hand calculations and FEA to validate designs • Proven design-for-manufacturing experience releasing parts to suppliers • Hands-on experience in fabrication, assembly, and testing • Ability to lead technical decisions and defend them with data • Clear written and verbal communication with strong prioritization at a fast but sustainable pace BONUS QUALIFICATIONS: • Marine, automotive, aerospace, or EV hardware experience (marine preferred) • Fiberglass part infusion or open molding experience • Tooling design experience • Soft goods experience • Experience working alongside industrial design teams with Class A surfaces • Familiarity with ABYC standards • Engineering leadership or mentorship experience • Enthusiasm for boating and the water
