CesiumAstro develops advanced communication systems for satellites, UAVs, launch vehicles, and other space and airborne platforms. We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Mechanical Engineering team in Munich.
You will own the mechanical design aspects of Cesium phased array antennas, subsystems, and interfaces across all development phases—from concept through space flight qualification and in-orbit support. This is a hands-on role requiring versatility across multiple disciplines: mechanical analysis, electronics packaging, CAD, mechanical interfaces, thermal architecture, spacecraft propulsion, deployable and actuated structures, and environmental qualification of spacecraft antennas and payloads.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading mechanical design from requirements definition through manufacturing, testing, and qualification
- Conducting architecture trades, block diagrams, and detailed analysis
- Designing deployable structures, actuators, and thermal systems for space-qualified hardware
- Presenting engineering design review materials to customers and executive leadership
- Contributing to proposal-writing efforts and technical documentation
The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in spacecraft mechanical design, a track record of delivering flight-qualified hardware, and strong communication skills for cross-functional collaboration and customer engagement. You will work in a dynamic, collaborative startup environment with significant autonomy and hands-on technical responsibility.
