Apptronik is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead continuous improvement initiatives for Apollo, their AI-powered humanoid robot platform. The role focuses on driving design, process, and performance optimizations across the entire robotic system—from individual components to full-stack assembly.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading continuous improvement initiatives to identify and address design and manufacturing bottlenecks in the Apollo platform
- Conducting root cause analysis on system failures, performance issues, and production inefficiencies to implement robust solutions
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams (electrical, software, manufacturing) to integrate improvements seamlessly
- Optimizing mechanical designs for manufacturability, reliability, and cost-effectiveness
- Designing, prototyping, and testing new components and sub-systems to enhance robot performance
- Developing and implementing best practices for mechanical assembly, testing, and quality control
- Documenting design changes and improvements with clear communication and knowledge transfer
- Mentoring and providing technical guidance to junior engineers
Required qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (Master's preferred)
- 7+ years of mechanical engineering experience with strong focus on design for manufacturing and continuous improvement
- Expertise in CAD software (SolidWorks, CATIA, or similar) and FEA simulation
- Strong understanding of GD&T, tolerance analysis, and manufacturing processes (CNC machining, 3D printing, injection molding)
- Hands-on experience with prototyping and testing using lab equipment
- Proven experience with complex electromechanical systems, particularly in robotics, aerospace, or similar fields
- Excellent problem-solving skills and data-driven decision-making approach
- Effective communication and collaborative skills in fast-paced environments
- Experience with humanoid robotics or legged locomotion is a plus
