Relativity Space is building Terran R, a heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle designed to deliver payloads to orbit. The Stennis Test team designs, builds, and operates test sites that evaluate Terran R's high-energy components, rocket engines, and booster/upper stages. As a Senior Propulsion Test Engineer, you will work on test stands and test articles, solving technical problems across design, operations, and integration.
The role offers three focus areas with initial placement in one, and opportunities to cross-train:
**Design & Build Focus:** Design fluid systems (gas, liquid, cryogenic) including P&IDs, analysis, and component selection. Design structural and mechanical systems with 3D modeling, analysis, and fabrication drawings. Source components and develop detailed fabrication work instructions. Bring new test stands to life by managing fabrication, activation, and initial operations. Design and implement upgrades to operational test stands to enable new test capabilities. Maintain test stands through preventive maintenance and rapid response to anomalies and equipment failures.
**Operations Focus:** Conduct test operations on high-energy components, engines, and stages. Control test stands and test articles through GUIs and automation while monitoring cameras and telemetry. Conduct flight acceptance, qualification, and development testing.
**Integration Focus:** Coordinate between design, operations, and external teams. Manage test article logistics and scheduling. Develop test procedures and documentation.
You'll see hardware come to life through testing, solve problems across broad ranges of timeframe and complexity, and continuously improve processes for speed and efficiency. The work is fast-paced, highly operational, and collaborative. No aerospace experience required—the team welcomes those with hands-on backgrounds in aviation, automotive, manufacturing, offshore operations, industrial systems, construction, or adjacent industries. You'll have autonomy, ownership, and direct impact at every level.
