CesiumAstro is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join its Mechanical Engineering team in El Segundo, CA. The company develops advanced communication systems for satellites, UAVs, launch vehicles, and other space and airborne platforms.
In this role, you will own the mechanical design aspects of Cesium phased array antennas, subsystems, and interfaces across all development phases—from concept through space flight. Your responsibilities will span requirements definition, architecture trades and block diagrams, analysis, manufacturing, testing, qualification, and in-orbit support.
The ideal candidate brings versatility and proficiency across multiple disciplines: mechanical analysis, electronics packaging, computer-aided design (CAD), mechanical interfaces, thermal architecture, spacecraft propulsion, deployable and actuated structures, and environmental qualification of spacecraft antennas and payloads. You will work hands-on with cutting-edge space hardware in a dynamic, cross-functional startup environment.
Beyond design, you will present engineering design review materials to customers and the executive team, and participate in proposal-writing efforts. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.
