CesiumAstro develops advanced communication systems for satellites, UAVs, launch vehicles, and other space and airborne platforms. We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Mechanical Engineering team and take ownership of mechanical design aspects for our phased array antennas, subsystems, and interfaces across all development phases.
You will lead mechanical design efforts from concept through space flight qualification, including requirements definition, architecture trades, block diagrams, analysis, manufacturing, testing, and in-orbit support. The role demands versatility across multiple disciplines: mechanical analysis, electronics packaging, CAD, mechanical interfaces, thermal architecture, spacecraft propulsion, deployable and actuated structures, and environmental qualification of spacecraft antennas and payloads.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing mechanical designs for leading-edge communications satellites
- Conducting mechanical analysis and architecture trades
- Managing electronics packaging and thermal architecture
- Designing deployable and actuated structures
- Overseeing manufacturing, testing, and qualification processes
- Presenting engineering design review materials to customers and executive leadership
- Contributing to proposal-writing efforts
The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience in spacecraft or satellite mechanical design, strong proficiency in CAD tools, and a track record of taking designs from concept through flight qualification. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential, as you will interface with customers, leadership, and cross-functional teams.
