CesiumAstro is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join its Mechanical Engineering team. The company develops advanced communication systems for satellites, UAVs, launch vehicles, and other space and airborne platforms.
In this role, you will own the mechanical design aspects of Cesium phased array antennas, subsystems, and interfaces throughout all development phases—from concept through space flight. You will be responsible for requirements definition, architecture trades, block diagrams, analysis, manufacturing, testing, qualification, and in-orbit support.
Key responsibilities include:
- Mechanical design and analysis of satellite antenna systems and payloads
- Electronics packaging and thermal architecture development
- Design of deployable and actuated structures
- Environmental qualification and testing of spacecraft hardware
- Computer-aided design (CAD) and mechanical interface definition
- Presenting engineering design review materials to customers and executive leadership
- Participating in proposal-writing efforts
The ideal candidate brings versatility and proficiency across mechanical analysis, CAD, thermal architecture, spacecraft propulsion systems, and environmental qualification. You should have strong written and verbal communication skills, as you will present to customers and leadership. This is a hands-on role in a dynamic startup environment focused on cutting-edge space hardware development.
