Anduril Industries is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join its Sydney-based team developing advanced unmanned systems for subsurface and other domains. You will play a key role in architecting, designing, and delivering next-generation autonomous undersea vehicles (XL-AUVs) and related hardware capabilities throughout their entire product lifecycle.
In this role, you will create detailed mechanical designs, prototypes, and complex structures leveraging simulation and analysis techniques including modal and spectral response analysis. You will ensure all designs meet internal and external maritime standards, act as a subject matter expert in areas such as part design, analysis, and material selection, and inspect parts and sub-systems to verify compliance with specifications and regulations.
You will design and implement integrated systems that rapidly deliver capability beyond current systems, with clear paths for architecture and capability evolution. Working in a multi-disciplinary engineering environment, you will balance end-user needs with external constraints in a multi-stakeholder context. You will contribute to reusable component design across Anduril product lines and support the full lifecycle of structural hardware development, including design validation testing, manufacturing, testing, and deployment.
Additionally, you will mentor junior engineers from diverse backgrounds, travel up to 20% of the time to co-locate with end-users, vendors, and integration teams, and contribute to the design and execution of development processes for initial delivery and subsequent iterations.
Required qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace, Naval Architecture, or equivalent experience, plus professional experience as a Mechanical Engineer with expertise in one or more domains or technologies. You must demonstrate capacity to work holistically on complex mechanical systems across design, implementation, operation, and sustainment, and ability to obtain and maintain Australian Government Security Clearance.
Preferred experience includes maritime defence, aerospace, or automotive domains; proficiency with NX, FEMAP, Teamcenter, or similar CAD/FEA/PLM systems; FEM modeling expertise; familiarity with welding, machining, composites, and additive manufacturing; and experience across the full product delivery lifecycle.
