Neko Health is a preventative healthcare company using proprietary technology and clinical care to deliver personalized health insights in a single, non-invasive visit. The company is building hardware that bridges development and production, ensuring designs are manufacturable and production-ready before release. As Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you will own design readiness and manufacturability assessment, closing the gap between concept and production. Your core responsibilities include: deciding what needs proving before design release and designing rapid prototypes/test setups to validate function, dimensional behavior, robustness, and subsystem integration; assessing manufacturability and assemblability in collaboration with manufacturing partners; working hands-on with the five-person mechanical design team to devise builds, measurements, and trials that accelerate the design-to-answer loop; leveraging in-house prototyping capabilities (workshop, machine shop, 3D printers) and external manufacturers; and developing the company's design readiness assessment methodology. You will also partner with production engineering on post-release issues, owning the design-side fixes, correcting CAD/drawings, and navigating medical device change control processes to keep production moving. While your primary scope is manufacturing readiness, you may take full product ownership of smaller products or as priorities shift. You bring proven mechanical design and CAD expertise from products you've taken into production; hands-on rapid prototyping and production floor experience; applied design-for-manufacturing and design-for-assembly knowledge; ability to devise and run practical tests with sound judgment on what and when to test; fluency in drawings, tolerancing, and tolerance stack-up; comfort with controlled release and engineering change processes; and self-direction in identifying and pursuing risk mitigation. Bonus: experience with regulated products, medical devices, ISO 13485, or EU MDR. The role offers short feedback loops—designs move quickly from development to production, so you see your work land in clinics. You sit alongside design engineers, bringing early insight while designs are still conceptual. Manufacturing, procurement, electronics, firmware, optics, and verification are co-located, making cross-functional collaboration immediate.
