Anduril Industries is a defense technology company transforming military capabilities through advanced technology, AI, and autonomy. The Maneuver Dominance team develops aerial robotic systems designed to operate in large coordinated teams alongside ground forces. In this role, you will own the physical design of payload carriage and release systems for novel aircraft, driving development from initial concept through low-rate production. You'll define requirements, propose solutions, and establish methodologies for evaluating and verifying mechanical systems in close collaboration with partner organizations in the UK and US. Key responsibilities include: - Owning and driving the physical design of payload carriage and release systems for novel aircraft types - Defining requirements, proposing solutions, and establishing evaluation methodologies for mechanical systems - Partnering with electrical, actuation, and mechanical teams to ensure reliable, flexible, cost-effective integrated systems - Spearheading design reviews, conducting analysis, building prototypes, and implementing hardware test plans - Leading enhancement of team tools, templates, processes, and standards - Fostering a vibrant, collaborative, educational work environment - Traveling to test sites and vendors to support critical hardware demonstrations and development activities You should have 10+ years in professional aerospace engineering with a strong track record of stakeholder management, consensus building, and successful project delivery. Required expertise includes NX/Teamcenter CAD proficiency, deep knowledge of composite and metallic materials, load path analysis, structural design principles, and hand calculations. You must be an excellent communicator with report writing and presentation experience, and eligible to obtain UK security clearance. Preferred qualifications include experience with payload carriage/release systems, systems integration during airframe assembly, metrology verification methods, structural development testing, and demonstrated passion for aviation and unmanned systems.
