Voltus is hiring a Senior Market Operations Analyst to own operational success across strategic energy markets during a period of significant expansion. The company is absorbing new responsibilities from its Energy Markets team and scaling its Bring Your Own Capacity (BYOC) business across MISO and PJM regions. This role requires someone who takes total ownership, reasons from first principles to become a subject matter expert quickly, and generates priorities independently in a fast-moving environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own operational success for assigned markets, including execution, coordination, and automation of work. You are accountable for availability and offers, interval data collection, performance calculations, and all enrollment and post-event deadlines, delivered on time and without material error. Occasional night or weekend work expected during busy periods or product launches.
- Deliver high-stakes, high-visibility analyses that directly impact revenue and shape competitive positioning in markets.
- Grow from hands-on execution into outcome ownership, potentially guiding teammates and eventually managing junior analysts.
- Lead build-out of new programs and product capabilities, including transforming OR/PR programs to support batteries and launching new programs in SPP.
- Serve as subject matter expert for assigned markets, advising Product, Engineering, and Sales on complex market details.
- Lead ambiguous decisions where no standard operating procedure exists and drive root cause analysis on incidents, building durable fixes.
Success Metrics:
In the first six months, a competency matrix will define strong performance at each growth stage. You'll be measured on two standards: maintaining zero compliance violations and zero lost revenue from process errors, and achieving individually scoped project-based goals with clear definitions of performance levels.
Requirements:
- 4+ years in a role where you personally owned business-critical outcomes in an environment with minimal process scaffolding. You were expected to define your own approach, not execute against an existing playbook. Energy or clean tech experience is a plus but not required.
- Strong, demonstrable Python skills used to automate real operational workflows, not just analyze data. You should be able to describe a specific process you automated end-to-end to solve an operational problem. This is not a software engineering role; production-grade code is not required, but you should reach for automation instead of doing repetitive work manually. SQL is a nice-to-have, not a requirement.
- Track record of taking complex, multifaceted situations and distilling them into clear, actionable strategies, with concrete examples and demonstrated business impact.
- Genuine, specific alignment with Voltus' mission of accelerating the clean energy transition, evidenced beyond a resume line.
- Collaborative teammate who delivers feedback kindly, has coached or mentored others, and is excited about eventually guiding junior teammates.
- Able to begin work by 8 AM Central Time.
- Authorization to work from home location in the US or Canada (no visa sponsorship). Must work primarily from home country; international travel while working requires approval under Global Remote Travel Policy.
