Relativity Space is building the Terran R rocket to deliver payloads to orbit and advance commercial spaceflight. The Stage Manufacturing team owns the build of Terran R's primary structures, turning design into reality through advanced manufacturing processes including 3D printing and assembly automation.
As Senior Manufacturing Engineer for Primary Structures, you will be a key technical leader on the shop floor and in cross-functional collaboration. Your responsibilities include:
• Provide Design for Manufacturing (DFM) feedback to structures design teams during development, prototype builds, and flight vehicle production, ensuring designs are optimized for manufacturability and cost.
• Collaborate closely with design engineers, manufacturing engineers, reliability specialists, internal production teams, and external vendors to solve complex manufacturing challenges and drive continuous improvement.
• Lead shop floor operations for primary structure work centers, removing barriers to production and keeping assembly moving toward launch dates.
• Champion process improvements across multiple work centers, incorporating learnings from the first Terran R build to optimize assembly operations and scalability.
• Create and standardize work instructions, specifications, and best practices across high-fidelity manufacturing processes, establishing standards across the manufacturing team.
• Apply emerging technologies including automation and machine learning to improve manufacturing efficiency and quality.
This is a hands-on role where you'll work at the intersection of design, manufacturing, and production. You'll have real-time feedback loops with technicians and engineers, shape how the company builds rockets at scale, and see your work directly impact launch timelines. The role offers significant autonomy and ownership in a fast-moving, mission-driven environment where technical rigor and creativity are equally valued.
