Relativity Space is building rockets to serve today's needs and tomorrow's breakthroughs. The Terran R vehicle will deliver customer payloads to orbit, meeting growing demand for launch capacity. The Stage Manufacturing team owns the build of Terran R's primary structures, turning design into reality through advanced manufacturing processes including 3D printing and assembly.
As a Senior Manufacturing Engineer, you will provide Design for Manufacturing (DFM) feedback to structures teams during development, prototype, and flight builds. You'll collaborate closely with design, manufacturing, and reliability engineers, as well as internal production teams and external vendors, to drive progress on complex structural components.
Key responsibilities include:
- Provide DFM feedback throughout development and build phases
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams (design, manufacturing, reliability)
- Cover shop floor operations for primary structure work center assembly, clearing barriers and keeping production moving
- Champion process improvements across multiple work centers to enhance assembly operations and incorporate learnings from the first Terran R build
- Create work instructions, specifications, and best practices for high-fidelity processes
- Help standardize processes across the manufacturing team
This role offers autonomy, ownership, and impact at every level. You'll solve problems that haven't been solved before, help develop a rocket and factory from the ground up, and see your work come to life in record time. The team values creativity and technical rigor, with opportunities to apply automation, machine learning, and advanced technologies as the vehicle and factory evolve.
