Impulse Space is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer specializing in composites to lead the development and manufacturing of state-of-the-art composite structures for current and future aerospace vehicles. You will own all aspects of composite part lifecycle—from process development through fabrication, testing, and integration—working across cross-disciplinary engineering teams and external vendors to deliver flight-ready hardware.
Key responsibilities include:
- Manage all phases of flight and development composite parts: process development, build, test, and integration
- Conduct composite material coupon fabrication, testing, and develop material allowables
- Drive continuous improvement in composite manufacturing processes
- Draft and develop composite process specifications
- Design tooling for composite part fabrication, shop aids, and assembly fixtures
- Collaborate directly with machinists, technicians, and outside vendors to ensure high-quality hardware production
- Specify, procure, and implement equipment to support composite fabrication operations
- Lead development projects to validate feasibility of composite part designs
This role bridges rapid prototyping and mature production environments, requiring both hands-on technical expertise and the adaptability to scale processes as the company grows.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
- 5+ years of direct, hands-on experience with composite part fabrication (prepreg, wet laminate, or filament winding)
- Demonstrated extreme attention to detail
- Proficiency with CAD software and ability to learn new tools quickly
- Ability to adapt from fast-paced, scrappy development environments to mature, highly controlled production settings
