Relativity Space is building Terran R, a commercial launch vehicle designed to deliver payloads to orbit. The company is developing advanced manufacturing capabilities, including 3D printing and precision machining, to scale rocket production. As Senior Manufacturing Engineer for CNC Machining, you will lead process engineering for high-precision machined components critical to Terran R's flight hardware. You'll work within the Machine Shop team, collaborating closely with design and engineering partners to optimize manufacturability and drive innovation in production methods. Key responsibilities include: - Develop and document process plans, standard operating procedures, inspection plans, and work-holding designs for complex machined parts - Improve manufacturing processes by identifying and deploying new technologies and methodologies - Advise upstream design teams on design-for-manufacturability principles, GD&T requirements, and datum structures - Recommend design modifications that enhance manufacturability and reduce cost or risk - Investigate non-conforming hardware, perform root-cause analysis, and implement corrective actions - Support the expansion and optimization of the company's state-of-the-art machine shop to meet Terran R production demands You'll have the opportunity to see your work directly integrated into flight hardware and contribute to a high-impact aerospace program at a critical growth phase. Required qualifications: - B.S. in Engineering or comparable STEM field - 6+ years of hands-on experience in CNC machining and process engineering - Strong knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) - Demonstrated expertise in process planning, fixturing design, and inspection methodologies - Experience with precision aerospace or defense manufacturing preferred
