Salary: USD 138,100 - 207,100 / annual
Pacific Fusion, founded in 2023 and backed by over $900M in funding, is building a pulser-driven inertial fusion system to achieve net facility gain and deliver abundant, affordable, clean energy. The company is rapidly scaling from prototype to production and seeks a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to own end-to-end manufacturing processes for pulser module assembly.
In this hands-on, high-ownership role, you will be on the shop floor daily, leading a small team of technicians and driving continuous improvement across the build line. You will own manufacturing processes from work instruction development through build completion and acceptance, working closely with design engineering to ensure pulser modules are built correctly every time.
Key responsibilities include: developing and managing mechanical assembly processes and work instructions; providing fast, executable solutions to keep production progressing; partnering with design engineering on design-for-manufacturability improvements and first-article builds; identifying and resolving production non-conformances through root cause analysis; defining tooling, fixturing, and equipment requirements; tracking production metrics (cycle time, yield, first-pass rate) and driving improvement initiatives; managing build schedules using Microsoft Project; and supporting the scale-up from low-rate initial production to higher-volume output.
You bring 3–7 years of hands-on manufacturing or process engineering experience in production environments, with demonstrated experience leading or mentoring technicians. You have strong understanding of mechanical assembly, work instruction development, and production documentation. Preferred experience includes complex electromechanical assembly (high voltage, pulsed power, precision mechanical), quality management systems, non-conformance processes, root cause analysis methodologies (8D, 5-Why, Fishbone), ability to read and create engineering drawings and GD&T, and comfort in early-stage, fast-moving environments. Startup prototype-building experience and familiarity with standard machining processes are valued.
Bonus qualifications include aerospace, defense, or energy industry background; Lean manufacturing or Six Sigma certification; prototype-to-production transition experience; high-voltage or pulsed-power systems exposure; and a BS in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering.
