Robinhood is seeking a Senior Manager, Valuation to lead and execute valuation analyses for private company investments, minority equity stakes, and other illiquid financial instruments held across the organization. This role will partner closely with Technical Accounting & Financial Reporting (TAFR), Corporate Development, and the RHV Private Markets Valuation Committee to ensure valuations are well-supported, defensible, and compliant with US GAAP (ASC 820, ASC 321/323) and SEC reporting requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Modeling & Valuation Analysis: Build and maintain complex financial models (DCF, comparable company/precedent transaction analyses, OPM/PWERM, Monte Carlo simulations) to support fair value measurements of private company investments and other illiquid holdings. Perform quarterly and event-driven valuations for private equity/venture-style investments, including waterfall/allocation analyses across complex capital structures (preferred stock, SAFEs, convertible notes, warrants). Develop and refine valuation methodologies in line with AICPA Private Equity and Venture Capital Valuation Guidelines.
Governance & Reporting: Prepare valuation memos and supporting documentation for presentation to the RHV Private Markets Valuation Committee and Audit Committee. Partner with TAFR to ensure valuation conclusions are properly reflected in consolidated financial statements and SEC disclosures (10-Q/10-K, 8-K as applicable). Serve as a key point of contact for external auditors (EY) on valuation-related audit requests, walkthroughs, and testing.
Cross-Functional Partnership: Collaborate with Corporate Development, Legal, and Investor Relations on new investment structuring, follow-on financings, and exit/liquidity events to assess valuation impacts. Advise on the accounting and valuation implications of new or complex investment structures (e.g., tiered/contingent consideration, equity-linked instruments).
Process & Controls: Maintain and enhance internal controls (SOX) over the valuation process, including documentation standards, model governance, and data source validation. Drive continuous improvement of valuation templates, market data inputs, and benchmarking practices.
This role reports into Technical Accounting & Financial Reporting (TAFR) leadership and is based in Menlo Park, CA; New York, NY; or Chicago, IL, with in-person attendance expected at least 3 days per week.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field
- 10+ years of relevant experience in valuation, financial modeling, investment banking, or private equity/venture capital, with a focus on private company or illiquid investment valuation
- Demonstrated expertise in building and auditing complex financial models (DCF, comparable company analysis, option pricing models, waterfall/allocation models)
- Strong working knowledge of US GAAP fair value measurement guidance (ASC 820) and its application to private investments
- Excellent communication skills, with experience presenting valuation conclusions to committees, auditors, or senior stakeholders
- Advanced proficiency in Excel/financial modeling; familiarity with valuation software or platforms a plus
