REGENT is building Seagliders—wing-in-ground-effect craft that combine airplane speed (180 mph) with boat economics, capable of 180 miles on current battery technology and up to 400 miles with next-gen batteries. The company is scaling from prototype to full production and seeking a Senior Manager, Structures to lead the structural engineering function.
In this player-coach role, you will lead and develop a team of structural engineers while remaining technically engaged in hands-on work. You'll establish structural analysis standards across programs, own the structural substantiation and certification approach, and drive the composites knowledge base—understanding allowables, design values, and testing roadmaps. You'll manage critical cross-functional interfaces with Loads & Dynamics, Flight Physics, and Manufacturing, ensuring consistent load application, margining conventions, FEM integration, and design-for-manufacturability. You'll also own structural test planning and correlation, defining building-block test programs and closing the loop between analysis predictions and test results.
Key responsibilities include conducting 1:1s and building development plans for team members, defining discipline standards for analysis methods and documentation, leading certification-ready artifact development (margin documentation, allowables basis, compliance approaches), and partnering across functions on load application, CFD-to-FEM workflows, and manufacturing constraints. This is a functional home role in a matrix organization where you'll build team identity and establish repeatable standards that raise the bar across programs.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Deep, hands-on expertise in aerospace structural engineering with strong background in both composite and metallic structures
- Proven functional management or discipline-lead experience with real people management responsibility (hiring, development, performance)
- Extensive hands-on experience with composite laminate design, analysis methods, and structural test; familiarity with manufacturing processes (autoclave, infusion, out-of-autoclave) and their design implications
- Proficiency with structural FEA tools (Nastran preferred); experience building and interrogating global and detailed finite element models
- Direct experience leading or owning structural analysis for certification or classification programs; understanding of structural margins, load factors, safety factors, and certification basis
- Demonstrated experience at the structural-loads interface; understanding of load application, margining conventions, FEM fidelity, and test correlation
- Track record developing engineers' careers, establishing discipline-wide standards, and building cohesive technical teams, ideally in matrix environments
