Acorns, a financial wellness company serving over 16 million users, is seeking a Senior Manager of Sourcing & Procurement to lead company-wide sourcing and purchasing strategy across all third-party spend. This is a people-management role overseeing end-to-end category strategy, vendor management, and intake workflow operations. You will partner closely with Finance, Enterprise IT, Engineering, InfoSec, Legal, Compliance, and business owners across Marketing, Product, and Operations to drive commercial value, operational reliability, and risk oversight.
Key responsibilities include: owning and enhancing Acorns' third-party management program (planning, intake, evaluation, contracting, lifecycle management); leading commercial negotiations and contract structuring across indirect and strategic spend; developing category strategies across technology, marketing, product, operations, professional services, and corporate functions; managing company-wide intake and procurement workflows and automation; driving spend segmentation, RFPs, market analysis, and vendor consolidation; maturing risk-tiered sourcing frameworks to meet SEC, FINRA, and bank-partner expectations; enhancing spend analytics and executive reporting; and directly managing, mentoring, and developing one team member with ongoing coaching and performance feedback.
The role requires deep expertise in strategic sourcing and vendor management within high-growth tech or fintech environments, with proven ability to negotiate complex multi-year enterprise SaaS, marketing, and professional services contracts. You will need hands-on experience with category strategy development, structured RFPs, vendor consolidation, and multi-year spend planning. Strong stakeholder management, negotiation, and communication skills are essential, along with familiarity with spend management tools (Zip, Brex) and third-party risk management frameworks. Technical fluency—sufficient to partner credibly with Engineering and IT teams on architecture, integration, security, SLAs, and incident response—is required. Financial acumen with demonstrated cost-savings and TCO reduction experience is critical. The role is remote-first with optional office access in Irvine, CA.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 10+ years of progressive experience in strategic sourcing, enterprise procurement, or vendor management in high-growth technology or financial services
- Proven track record negotiating complex, multi-year enterprise SaaS software agreements, marketing/agency agreements, professional services contracts, and strategic third-party partnerships
- Hands-on experience developing category strategies, running structured RFPs, consolidating vendor bases, and executing multi-year spend plans
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills with collaborative, customer-centric approach
- Expertise in spend management and procurement intake tools (Zip, Brex)
- Experience executing cross-functional third-party risk management (TPRM) frameworks
- Familiarity with technical concepts (architecture, integration, security, SLAs, uptime, incident response) to partner credibly with Engineering and IT
- Deep financial acumen with demonstrated experience driving measurable cost savings, TCO reductions, and risk mitigation
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Finance, or related field (or equivalent practical experience)
- 2+ years of people management experience
- Demonstrated experience motivating, supporting, and developing team members to meet performance expectations and build careers
- Ability to align company vision and organizational goals with team execution
- Commitment to upholding policy and procedures per company standards
- Ownership of strategic decision-making and effective communication of direction to team members
