As Senior Manager of Propulsion Systems at Impulse, you will own all aspects of propulsion system design, analysis, implementation, and operation for high-performance spacecraft developed from clean sheet designs. You will serve as the focal point for multiple propulsion systems under development, ranging from cryogenic to storable propellant systems with mission durations from one day to 5+ years. Your responsibilities include defining and creating new propulsion systems for future spacecraft and landers, serving as the programmatic owner of all related fluids and control systems, and leading design reviews and trades on major systems and propulsion components.
You will create and execute propulsion system test campaigns, manage and develop a team providing engineering support across multiple programs and vehicles, and work collaboratively with teams across engineering, manufacturing, and operations to deliver reliable, high-performance flight vehicles. You will resolve technical issues with innovative, resourceful solutions and drive the technical direction of propulsion architecture across the company's portfolio.
Required qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in engineering, science, or related field, 8+ years of demonstrated experience in aerospace propulsion, and prior hands-on experience with cryogenic propellants and liquid rocket propulsion development. You must have proficiency in basic principles of fluids, thermodynamics, heat transfer, mechanics, and materials, along with hands-on experience working with fluid, mechanical, electrical, and controls systems. Familiarity with NASA and DoD standards regarding spaceflight propulsion specifications is essential. You should demonstrate the ability to take project ownership of complex systems and work collaboratively and effectively with small, fast-paced teams.
