Apptronik is a human-centered robotics company developing AI-powered humanoid robots (Apollo) to support humanity across manufacturing, logistics, healthcare, and beyond. The company operates at the cutting edge of applied AI, tackling the full robotics stack from mechanical design through commercialization and mass production.
You will lead and scale the Locomotion and Manipulation team, owning the mechanical architecture, structural design, and kinematics of Apollo's arms, hands, legs, and mobility chassis. In this matrixed organization, your primary focus is team execution, resource allocation, and mentorship of world-class mechanical engineers.
Key responsibilities include: hiring and mentoring a team of mechanical engineers specializing in complex mechanisms and kinematics; ensuring rigorous design reviews for structural components and high-loaded joints; establishing and enforcing Siemens NX CAD standards and best practices across the organization; coaching the team on SWaP-C optimization (size, weight, power, cost) and aggressive lightweighting; bridging prototype innovation to mass production by ensuring DFM/DFA from Phase 0; and facilitating cross-functional collaboration with Actuation, Controls, and Electrical teams to resolve space claims and integration disputes.
You will need deep technical intuition to challenge engineers, review their work, and remove bottlenecks. The role requires expert-level Siemens NX proficiency, hands-on experience with complex mechanism design, bearing life calculations, kinematics, and high-torque actuator integration. You must have a proven track record shipping highly dynamic hardware (robotic arms, legged robots, advanced prosthetics, or active suspension systems) and thrive in a servant-leader mentality focused on empowering your team.
