You will own Legora's benefits and leave of absence programs across the US and international footprint (Sweden, UK, Australia, and expanding markets), reporting to the VP of Rewards. This is a hands-on role building the global benefits function largely from scratch, with a clear path to Director as the team grows.
Key responsibilities:
- Develop and execute global benefits strategy balancing employee impact, competitiveness, and cost across multiple markets
- Partner with regional Senior Manager, Total Rewards and analyst to translate global strategy into locally compliant plans
- Lead annual benefits cycle: renewals, open enrollment, plan changes, carrier transitions, new-market launches
- Manage broker, carrier, and third-party administrator relationships including RFPs, negotiations, and performance oversight
- Ensure compliance with US regulations (ERISA, ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA) and international statutory requirements
- Own global leave of absence program administration and consistency
- Manage benefits budget with Finance, using data to guide plan design
- Build localized employee communications adapted market-by-market
- Partner with People Business Partners and Talent Acquisition on employee/candidate experience
- Build HRIS processes and system configuration to support scaling
- Support benefits due diligence and integration for acquisitions
- Hire, manage, and develop Benefits Analyst and growing team members
You'll work in Legora's Union Square office (in-person environment with company-provided lunch) and collaborate globally with teams across Europe, APAC, and North America.
Requirements:
- 7+ years progressive benefits experience spanning US and international landscapes
- Deep US benefits expertise: health and welfare plan design, 401(k), leave, compliance (ERISA, ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA, state equivalents)
- Real international benefits experience, ideally EMEA and/or APAC; understanding that statutory minimums are a starting point
- Vendor and broker management experience including RFPs, negotiations, accountability
- Financial fluency: ability to build, defend benefits budget, model cost scenarios
- Strong communication skills translating complex benefits concepts for employees and leadership
- Experience partnering with regional HR/Total Rewards teams to execute global strategy locally
- Comfort in fast-paced, still-forming environment building the function, not just running it
- Experience with modern HRIS platforms (HiBob or similar) and data-driven plan decisions
- Experience managing or mentoring benefits analyst/coordinator with ability to grow team
- Plus: Human Resources Outsourcing (HRO) provider experience
