Crusoe is a vertically integrated AI infrastructure company building energy-efficient solutions to power the world's most ambitious AI workloads. The company owns and operates each layer of the stack—from electrons to tokens—to address the critical bottleneck of power in AI compute. You will own headcount and operating expense (OpEx) finance across the company, serving as the single source of truth for headcount planning, hiring forecasts, and non-capital spending. This is a highly visible role that brings structure and rigor to how a scaling company manages people and operating costs. Key responsibilities include: - Headcount Planning & Tracking: Own the company-wide headcount plan and forecast, partnering with People, Recruiting, and department leaders to track open requisitions, hiring pace, and attrition against plan. - OpEx Budgeting & Forecasting: Lead the annual budgeting and in-year OpEx forecasting process across departments, working with budget owners to build defensible, well-documented plans. - Actuals Reporting & Variance Analysis: Own monthly and quarterly actuals reporting for headcount and OpEx, identifying variances to plan and partnering with budget owners on root cause analysis and corrective action. - Forecast Management: Maintain rolling headcount and OpEx forecasts, updating for approved changes, hiring plan shifts, and in-year business decisions. - Business Partnering: Serve as the go-to finance contact for department leaders on headcount and OpEx questions. Partner with HR on new or changing benefit ideas. Additionally, partner with Marketing and other leaders on OpEx budgets, plans, and associated ROI. - Process & Systems Improvement: Improve tools and processes used to plan, track, and report on headcount and OpEx, reducing manual reconciliation and increasing self-serve visibility for stakeholders. - Executive & Board Reporting: Prepare clear, accurate headcount and OpEx reporting packages for executive leadership and the board. Requirements: - 6+ years of progressive finance experience, including meaningful ownership of headcount and/or OpEx planning and reporting - Strong financial modeling skills with advanced proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets and experience with planning tools (e.g., Anaplan, Adaptive, Workday, or similar) - Demonstrated ability to partner with People/Recruiting teams and translate hiring plans into financial impact - Track record of owning a budgeting and actuals reporting process end-to-end, including variance analysis and stakeholder communication - Excellent attention to detail and strong sense of ownership over data accuracy - Strong communication skills with ability to explain budget and variance drivers clearly to non-finance stakeholders - Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field; MBA a plus
