ClickUp is hiring a Senior Engineering Manager to lead the Identity & Access Management (IAM) Platform team, the foundational layer that controls who can see and do what across the entire product. This team owns the authorization engine, permission and role models, authentication systems (SSO, MFA, SCIM, OIDC), sharing primitives, audit logs, and core data models and APIs that define how customers organize work across the platform. It is backend-heavy, high-impact work critical to enterprise trust and security.
Your mandate is twofold: deliver an enterprise-grade, extensible, configuration-driven access management platform that is correct and auditable by design; and build and grow the team to support ClickUp's upmarket expansion. You will raise access, identity, and admin capabilities to enterprise standards while partnering with a Staff engineer on technical direction. You own delivery, people, and priorities.
ClickUp operates as an AI-native company. You will structure work so AI agents can read, route, and report on it, enabling a small team to operate at scale. There are no status-reporting meetings; agents maintain status and health from real signals. You should have proven experience using AI flows to eliminate busywork, reduce noise, and streamline team operations.
Responsibilities include: leading, hiring, and developing the IAM Platform team; owning delivery of enterprise-grade access management (authorization engine, authentication via SAML/OIDC/social/Okta/Entra, MFA, SCIM, sharing primitives, audit logs, OAuth, API tokens, core data models); setting roadmap and priorities with product, security, and leadership; running an AI-native team with minimal status overhead; partnering with enterprise customers and security teams; ensuring operational excellence for high-impact services; upholding a high engineering bar for security-critical work; and collaborating across backend, frontend, platform, product, design, and infosec.
Required: 8+ years building production SaaS with 3+ years managing engineering teams including senior engineers. Hands-on IAM experience is required: OAuth 2.0, OIDC, SAML, JWTs, MFA/2FA, enterprise SSO, SCIM, RBAC/permission models, ideally in multi-tenant environments. Proven ability to use AI tools and agentic workflows to reduce noise and streamline team operations. Experience delivering enterprise-grade SaaS at scale and working directly with enterprise customers on security and compliance. Track record building and scaling high-performing teams. Technical depth to lead architecture discussions on high-impact systems. Security-conscious mindset with focus on correctness, auditability, and blast radius. Excellent cross-functional communication. Daily AI tool fluency.
Preferred: IAM or authorization experience at scale (millions of users, multi-tenant, workspace-scoped identity); configuration-driven or policy-based access models (RBAC/ABAC), authorization engines, or Zero Trust identity; SCIM provisioning, audit logging, and enterprise compliance frameworks (SOC 2, ISO 27001); track record moving products upmarket.
