Banyan Software is a global software investor and operator headquartered in Atlanta, managing over 100 portfolio companies across North America, the UK, EU, and APAC. The company acquires, builds, and grows specialized software businesses while modernizing them through shared AI expertise and operational discipline.
As Senior Manager, Business Development, you will lead sourcing and pipeline management across an assigned vertical or large sub-vertical within Banyan's investment portfolio. Reporting to the Director of Corporate Development, you will be responsible for identifying, researching, and evaluating software companies that align with Banyan's acquisition criteria.
Key responsibilities include:
- Building and managing a qualified pipeline of software companies within your assigned vertical
- Proactively engaging business owners through email, phone, and in-person meetings at conferences to establish trusted relationships
- Conducting research and due diligence to evaluate companies against Banyan's investment framework
- Collaborating cross-functionally with internal teams to refine sourcing strategies and share market insights
- Leading pipeline reviews, identifying bottlenecks, and ensuring smooth handoffs to the M&A team
- Developing and executing data-driven business development strategies that drive measurable pipeline growth
- Maintaining disciplined CRM practices in Salesforce, tracking activity, and reporting on KPIs
- Serving as a trusted ambassador of Banyan's values and partnership philosophy at founder meetings and industry events
You should bring experience in deal sourcing, private equity, investment banking, or comparable business development roles with a track record of building relationships with founder-led businesses. A background in software sales or M&A is valuable. You thrive in metrics-driven environments, possess strong written and verbal communication skills, and have the ability to influence senior leaders. A growth mindset, entrepreneurial spirit, and willingness to mentor junior team members are essential. The role requires independent judgment to advance opportunities through due diligence and translate market learnings into improved outreach strategies.
