Quantum Systems is seeking a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to join their development team working on autonomous unmanned systems (UAVs, UGVs, USVs). You will be responsible for the full ML lifecycle: data preparation and selection, model training and validation, and deployment on resource-constrained embedded platforms. Your work will directly enhance the autonomy capabilities of next-generation UxV solutions used in defense, security, and public sector applications.
The role offers flexibility in specialization. You may focus as an ML Generalist with expertise in deep learning model design, production optimization techniques (quantization, pruning, distillation), and computer vision or vision-language architectures. Alternatively, you could specialize as an MLOps/ML Platform Engineer, building and maintaining training and inference pipelines, managing cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and GPU cluster management. A third path is as a Data Engineer specializing in geospatial data and sensor fusion, managing large-scale datasets including drone imagery, LiDAR, telemetry, and flight logs, with experience in data quality assurance, annotation workflows, and synthetic data generation.
You will collaborate closely with hardware development, testing, production, and customer operations teams to drive continuous improvements in autonomous capabilities. You'll work within a world-class team pushing the boundaries of autonomous drone technology and helping set the benchmark for next-generation UxV solutions.
Required qualifications: degree in Computer Science, AI, or related engineering discipline; proficiency in Python, Rust, or C++; passion for solving complex technical challenges; strong communication skills in English; self-motivated with ability to drive your area independently.
