Salary: GBP 115,000 - 135,000 / annual
AccuRx is a mission-driven healthtech company transforming NHS communication through a unified digital platform used by 98% of UK GP practices. The platform powers Total Triage for patient demand management, Self-Book for appointment scheduling, Patient Questionnaires for chronic condition management, Accumail for cross-care staff communication, and Accurx Scribe, an AI-powered clinical note-taker.
You'll join the Triage Intelligence team as a Senior Machine Learning Engineer, working alongside software engineers, data scientists, clinicians, and product leadership. This cross-functional group builds the intelligence that powers how Accurx interprets healthcare communication across the product suite, with current focus on understanding patient healthcare requests and enabling fast, informed clinical decisions.
Key responsibilities include: owning end-to-end technical design of ML systems from data ingestion and training pipelines through deployment and real-time monitoring; partnering with data scientists to evolve experimental code into high-quality, extensible library modules; translating clinical and product objectives into efficient computational tasks with smart build-vs-buy decisions; and turning one-off experiments into repeatable platform capabilities adoptable by other product teams.
You should have extensive experience with diverse ML techniques (Transformer-based NLP, Deep Learning, tree-based methods, Bayesian modeling), proven ability to move models from Jupyter notebooks to high-availability production environments, mastery of production-grade languages (Python, C#, Go) with focus on extensible libraries, and experience defining both offline and online metrics. Strong collaborative skills, rigorous code review practices, and ability to identify technical risks proactively are essential.
Bonus experience includes working with regulated data (GDPR, HIPAA), infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, Kubernetes), MLOps platforms (SageMaker, Vertex AI), and hands-on LLM fine-tuning or prompt engineering.
