Salary: USD 142,800 - 193,200 / annual
Duolingo is seeking a Senior Localization Program Manager to join the Scaling Operations team and drive the company's localization strategy across 30+ UI languages. In this role, you will own end-to-end localization programs that transform complex, high-volume work into scalable, efficient systems that keep pace with Duolingo's growth serving half a billion learners worldwide.
Key responsibilities include:
- Drive automation and system improvements to scale localization from 0-to-1 and beyond, leveraging technology (AI, CMSs, CAT tools) to simplify content production, increase repeatability, and enhance transparency
- Own metrics for your vertical to inform strategy, decision-making, and prioritization
- Cultivate cross-functional relationships with Product, Engineering, Design, and Marketing teams to develop localization strategy and roadmaps; establish and socialize best practices
- Design workflows and tooling that increase localization throughput and quality across the system
Required qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience crafting localization strategy and systems for new features in collaboration with product, design, and engineering partners
- Track record building and leading localization programs in cross-functional consumer app environments
- Tech-savviness with proficiency in managing and scaling workloads using technology, including AI, CMSs, and CAT tools
- Excellent communication skills; ability to influence without authority and align diverse stakeholders
- Comfort defining goals, metrics, and translating insights into actionable engineering requirements and scalable workflow specifications
Preferred qualifications:
- Hands-on experience with localization quality frameworks and ecosystems
- Familiarity with internationalization engineering concepts (Unicode handling, message formats in consumer apps)
- Experience supporting international product growth in emerging or high-complexity language markets
