Adyen is a global financial technology platform providing payments, data, and financial products for enterprises like Meta, Uber, H&M, and Microsoft. You will join a team of experienced system engineers responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and automating critical infrastructure services including load balancers, DNS, proxies, and other core systems. The focus is on reducing operational toil through automation, increasing reliability, and aligning infrastructure decisions with company objectives.
In this role, you will maintain critical on-premises infrastructure powered by open source technologies, optimize load balancing to ensure high availability and responsiveness during traffic spikes, and automate manual tasks into efficient operations. You'll collaborate cross-functionally with product managers, developers, and SRE teams to translate business needs into scalable infrastructure solutions. You'll participate in architectural discussions, influence key infrastructure decisions, maintain DNS and other critical services, and drive innovation across the Adyen Platform.
This is an individual contributor role where you will mentor others and leverage deep technical expertise to solve complex problems at scale. You'll work on both new and existing tools and infrastructure with an emphasis on elegant, efficient, practical, and maintainable solutions.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 8+ years of relevant work experience
- Managed DNS in complex environments
- Proficient with Linux; able to deep dive and troubleshoot complex problems
- Good understanding of distributed systems
- Demonstrable experience driving and delivering complex projects
- Strong expertise in managing Linux-based systems, observability, troubleshooting, and tuning
- Strong understanding of networking concepts, layers, and protocols (TCP/IP, TLS)
- Experience managing DNS solutions (PowerDNS, Bind)
- Experience with TLS certificate lifecycle management
- Experience managing CDNs as a service provider
- Experience with configuration management tools (Ansible, Puppet)
- Proficiency in scripting languages (Bash, Python)
- Good understanding of system and service observability
- Experience in system design and building/maintaining large distributed systems
- Ability to plan, drive, and deliver complex projects
- Great communication skills and mentoring ability
