Akur8 is a fast-growing InsurTech scale-up transforming insurance pricing and reserving through transparent, high-performance modeling technology. The company is expanding its Life Insurance offerings with Akur8 Life, bringing machine learning and predictive analytics to life, health, and protection risk assessment. The SaaS platform enables insurers to generate insights up to 10x faster than traditional methods while maintaining full explainability and regulatory compliance with frameworks like Solvency II and IFRS 17.
As Senior Life Actuary, you will be a key technical leader supporting Akur8's expansion in North America. You will design, build, and maintain actuarial models on the SLOPE platform, serving as a client-facing subject matter expert. Your responsibilities include:
• Provide model best practices guidance, onboarding, issue resolution, and feedback gathering for new and existing customers
• Run product demos and proof-of-concept pilots for prospective clients to demonstrate SLOPE platform capabilities
• Design, construct, and maintain Life models and reports across Life, Annuity, and Health products
• Monitor local regulatory updates and translate them into SLOPE model and report requirements; identify market opportunities
• Contribute to actuarial thought leadership by attending industry conferences, presenting, and delivering webinars to support marketing
• Recommend and help prioritize new platform features for the Akur8 Life team to enhance customer experience
• Support other related business areas as needed
This role combines technical actuarial expertise with client engagement and product strategy, ideal for actuaries passionate about technology and modernizing the actuarial profession in a dynamic, fast-growing environment.
REQUIREMENTS:
• Fully qualified actuary (ASA/FSA) or equivalent with 7+ years of relevant actuarial experience
• Experience across a range of Life and Annuity products and both STAT and GAAP regulations
• Hands-on experience with one or more actuarial modeling platforms (Slope, Axis, ALFA, Prophet, etc.)
• Experience in Valuation, Product Pricing, and/or Asset/Liability Management
• Strong modeling skillset and interest in technology and tools (programming, AI, data visualization)
• Ability to clearly communicate software benefits and respond to objections in a sales setting
• Demonstrated ability to learn quickly (new software, actuarial concepts)
• Entrepreneurial mindset and desire to work in a rapidly growing company
• Excellent communication skills and collaborative team ability
• Exceptional problem-solving and critical thinking skills
• Detail-oriented mindset
• Fluent English (written and spoken)
BONUS SKILLS:
• Experience building dashboards and reports using BI/data visualization tools (Sigma, Tableau, Power BI)
• Familiarity with SQL and database concepts
• Experience with Bermuda Reinsurance
• Process automation using programming scripts or AI
• Fluency in a second language
