Flipdish is a SaaS platform helping independent restaurant and takeaway owners run their operations through integrated technology spanning online ordering, marketing, loyalty, point of sale, menu optimization, and operational automation. You will serve as a generalist in-house legal counsel with primary focus on employment law and data protection compliance. You'll partner closely with People, Finance, Commercial, Product, and Engineering teams to provide pragmatic, risk-aware guidance, shape internal processes, and ensure regulatory compliance.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead employment law support across the business, handling issues consistently with timely, well-documented advice
- Lead data protection compliance and key GDPR processes, including handling data subject requests with clear legal triage and defensible timelines
- Steward privacy policy updates and ensure direct marketing practices (including SMS compliance) are lawful
- Maintain training and standards for People, Support, and other key teams so compliance is practical and repeatable
- Own Companies Act compliance for Irish entities alongside third-party company secretarial support
- Manage employee equity structure as a key team member
- Partner with Commercial team on transacting partner contracts and triaging novel customer queries
- Scan for relevant legal changes impacting the business and take proactive approach to staying ahead
- Challenge poor decisions and propose better ways of working; constructive challenge is a responsibility
You'll work hybrid from the Sandyford office in Dublin (2 days per week on-site). The role offers 25 days annual leave plus public holidays, private healthcare, pension support, equity (ESOP), and commuter benefits.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Approximately 5+ years post-qualification experience (PQE) as a solicitor qualified in Ireland
- Strong experience across employment law and practical risk management
- Credible GDPR and data protection experience, including comfort engaging with regulators and leading privacy assessments
- Ability to communicate clearly with non-lawyers, translate legal risk into actionable next steps, and manage sensitive situations with discretion
- High ownership mindset; proactive rather than reactive
- Willingness to challenge decisions and propose better ways of working
- Comfort embracing technology to augment work and build efficient processes
Desirable:
- In-house experience in a tech or data-driven environment
- Experience with privacy policy governance, marketing compliance, and operational DSAR oversight
- Exposure to other EU regulatory areas (e.g., digital or accessibility-related compliance) where privacy intersects
