Klaviyo is seeking a Senior Lead Software Engineer for its Developer Infrastructure team. This is a high-impact technical leadership role focused on architecting and optimizing the developer experience across Klaviyo's engineering organization.
You will serve as the primary technical architect for the Dependencies and Platform domain while driving the overarching technical vision for the entire Developer Infrastructure group. This role bridges multiple infrastructure pillars including CI/CD, Web Platform, Environments, Quality Tools & Testing, and AI Enablement.
Key responsibilities include:
- Define and execute technical strategy for backend architecture, infrastructure, and processes to improve system health, scalability, and reliability
- Establish the technical vision and architectural roadmap for the platform, ensuring all upgrades and dependency management align with long-term business goals
- Lead dependency management efforts: determine, analyze, and optimize backend and third-party dependencies for security, performance, and reliability; establish frameworks for risk assessment and contingency planning
- Oversee planning and execution of major software releases and platform upgrades, managing the entire lifecycle from design through production deployment with significant individual technical contributions
- Drive initiatives to improve developer productivity and platform cycle time metrics (PR CI speed, code review pickup time, commit velocity)
- Mentor experienced lead and senior engineers, fostering skill development across the team
- Act as a go-to expert for diagnosing and resolving complex performance, scalability, and reliability issues; implement proactive monitoring and telemetry
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product, security, and other stakeholders to align requirements and resolve conflicts
- Stay current with emerging technologies and evaluate new tools and practices for organizational benefit
You bring 12+ years of software development experience with strong computer science fundamentals, domain-driven design expertise, and deep knowledge of distributed systems and architectural patterns. This is an individual contributor role with significant technical scope and influence across the organization.
