You will lead the Internal Tools team and own the OV Pro Tools suite—a collection of services already deployed in customer plants: OV Vault (data storage), OV Fleet (fleet monitoring), OV Train (GPU-accelerated training), and OV Hub (Git-based recipe versioning). Your mission is to consolidate these into a coherent platform, define the roadmap, and ship new capabilities as the company scales from dozens to thousands of cameras deployed globally.
This is a hands-on leadership role. You will spend roughly 50% of your time in China (Nantong, Haiyan, Shenzhen and other factory sites) deploying systems, supporting customers, and learning from real-world usage. The other 50% is product development from the Taipei base, working closely with R&D. You will ship code every week while mentoring a small team (currently one engineer, growing as deployment scales), setting technical direction, running planning and reviews, and hiring as needed.
Key responsibilities include: leading the Internal Tools team and setting engineering standards; building the fleet deployment platform (device management, recipe distribution, staged/canary updates, rollback, health monitoring, alerting, telemetry); scaling OV Pro Tools from v1 services into a reliable, modular platform deployable independently or as a suite, including in air-gapped factory networks; designing and shipping LLM-powered tools for fleet monitoring and deployment; owning full-stack web tools from React/TypeScript frontends to Python backends and APIs; integrating with the edge-AI stack; rapid 0-to-1 prototyping and iteration with real users; and field deployment and support including customer training and factory system integration troubleshooting.
You will operate with high autonomy: you pick the technical approach, ship quickly, and iterate based on real user feedback. The role sits at the intersection of platform engineering, GenAI product development, and manufacturing operations.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 7+ years building full-stack web applications with a proven track record of shipping products end-to-end at Senior, Staff or Lead level
- Experience leading engineers formally or as a tech lead: setting direction, reviewing work, growing people, while staying hands-on
- Expert-level Python for backend services, APIs and data/tooling work (FastAPI, Django or Flask)
- Strong proficiency in React and TypeScript for building modern, polished web interfaces
- Experience designing and running distributed or fleet-scale systems: device management, over-the-air or staged updates, monitoring and alerting, offline-first or air-gapped deployments
- Experience building LLM-powered or GenAI product features (LLM APIs, prompt engineering, MCP, agent workflows), or strong passion and demonstrated aptitude for it
- Professional experience using AI agent tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot and similar) to architect solutions and solve difficult problems efficiently
- Solid Docker, Git, CI/CD and cloud deployment experience
- Product mindset: care about the user, make good judgment calls under ambiguity, drive tools from idea to shipped without detailed specs
- Fluent English and fluent Mandarin, both written and spoken (English for R&D collaboration and documentation; Mandarin for customers and China team)
- Comfortable with approximately 50% travel to China, including extended stays at customer sites
NICE TO HAVE:
- Hands-on experience with big data infrastructure, vector databases or agent-orchestration frameworks
- Familiarity with computer vision, manufacturing or industrial automation, including factory protocols (OPC UA, Modbus) and MES/ERP integration
- Time-series databases; S3-compatible or NAS storage
- GPU computing or ML operations background (CUDA, TensorRT)
- Previous 0-to-1 product development or founding engineer experience
