Catawiki is a curated online marketplace for special and collectible objects, with over 25 million items sold to date. The company operates a global platform where 100,000+ unique items are auctioned weekly across 80+ categories, supported by in-house expert curators.
As Senior Business Developer for Catawiki's Collectables business in Japan, you will drive seller acquisition and growth in the Japanese market, focusing on categories including Asian Art, Cameras, Trading Cards, and Toys. Your core mission is to identify high-potential sellers, guide them through onboarding, and nurture them into committed, fast-growing partners ready for handoff to Account Management teams.
Key responsibilities include:
- Prospecting and qualifying seller leads via calls, emails, field visits, and industry fairs
- Reactivating dormant high-potential sellers and engaging organic sign-ups
- Building and maintaining relationships with new sellers to ensure smooth pre- and post-onboarding experiences
- Developing category expertise in collaboration with internal specialists
- Creating sustainable revenue pipelines by converting new sellers into committed growth partners
- Collaborating with Account Managers on seller growth plans and transition strategies
You bring a proven sales track record with demonstrated ability to hit targets, strong networking and relationship-building skills with B2B partners, and a problem-solving, data-driven mindset. Experience in international or scale-up environments is valued. You are fluent in Japanese with business-level English proficiency, comfortable with Google Workspace and sales CRMs (HubSpot or equivalent), and willing to travel regularly within Japan for in-person seller meetings. A genuine interest in online marketplaces, collectibles, or the collecting community is important for connecting authentically with sellers.
