Sportradar's Sports Data & Odds Engineering organization is seeking a Senior Java Software Engineer to design, build, and operate highly scalable systems that power the global sports data and betting ecosystem. The role involves processing millions of real-time events daily for media companies, sports federations, betting operators, and consumer apps across 120 countries and 30+ sports disciplines.
You will take ownership of complex technical initiatives from design through production, working within a high-performing distributed team based in Warsaw that contributes to multiple products operating at global scale. Key responsibilities include designing and building scalable, high-performance Java services running 24/7; independently owning technical initiatives from architecture through delivery; contributing to cloud-native AWS architecture; mentoring engineers through code review and pairing; driving improvements to code quality, test coverage, and engineering practices; collaborating with product and leadership on technical direction; and building expertise in a mission-critical real-time data environment.
This is a fully office-based role. Sportradar emphasizes in-person collaboration, knowledge sharing, fast decision-making, and team connection as key drivers of innovation and success. REQUIREMENTS:
- 5+ years of professional software development experience with strong Java expertise
- Ability to design and deliver distributed systems in production; understanding of operational requirements
- Independent ownership of complex initiatives from architecture decisions to post-incident reviews
- Natural mentoring ability and technical review skills that are direct, constructive, and useful
- Deep understanding of testing strategy, CI/CD, and engineering excellence practices
- Clear communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Strong advantage: experience with AWS, Kafka, Kubernetes, and microservices at scale
