Scape is a Swedish game studio of approximately 30 people, fully remote by design, launching Gravity on Steam Early Access—a precision climbing game with 100 players on a shared server. The studio is building Scape, a growing platform of multiplayer games where player identity carries across titles. Leadership has shipped and operated live games at Arrowhead (Helldivers 2), Avalanche Studios, and Ubisoft.
You are the first IT hire and will own IT infrastructure for the entire company. The role combines infrastructure-as-code development with hands-on support for a distributed team. Your technical leadership is your primary stakeholder; you report to the Technical Director.
The position has three core pillars:
**Build**: You will use Terraform, PowerShell, and CI/CD pipelines as daily tools, progressively moving manual clickops under code without disrupting running systems. You'll identify and automate manual steps and integrate AI into workflows.
**Run the desk**: You'll handle access requests, onboarding, guest invites, admin rights, and offboarding entirely through Teams for a remote-first team. This requires reading problems behind brief messages, fixing root causes, and closing requests properly.
**Keep admin straight**: You'll maintain a complete register of subscriptions, seats, and renewals, ensuring nothing lapses or duplicates, with no chasing required.
**Ownership areas include:**
- IT as code: Terraform and PowerShell with reviewed pull requests, drift detection, and progressive migration from clickops
- Microsoft 365 and Entra ID: user accounts, groups, guests, mailboxes, aliases, and Exchange administration
- Domains and DNS: all zones, registrations, redirects, and mail records
- Zero Trust via Cloudflare: Access applications, tunnels, device profiles, and conditional access
- SSO and integrations: SAML, OIDC, SCIM provisioning, app registrations, and admin consent
- Security posture: multi-factor authentication enforcement, credential vault management, and same-day offboarding across all systems
- Remote request desk: fast, friendly resolution of access and onboarding requests
- Tool administration and spend: subscription tracking, renewal forecasting, invoice verification, and seat count accuracy
**Requirements:**
- Hands-on experience running Microsoft 365 and Entra ID (users, groups, guests, app registrations, Conditional Access)
- End-to-end SSO implementation (SAML/OIDC, SCIM provisioning, sign-in troubleshooting)
- Terraform experience applied to real infrastructure in Git with branches, pull requests, review, and pipeline-driven apply; ability to read and explain plans before applying. Experience migrating existing estates to code is particularly valued.
- Scripting reflex (PowerShell 7 preferred; language matters less than the habit)
- Genuine DNS ownership and Zero Trust or equivalent access layer (Cloudflare preferred); SPF/DKIM/DMARC experience is a plus
- Strong interpersonal skills over text; ability to extract problems from brief messages and provide excellent remote support
- Organized approach to invoices, renewals, and seat counts
- Self-directed leadership: you identify requirements, make decisions, and deliver well; you bring stakeholders in rather than waiting for instructions
- Located in EEA, UK, or Switzerland with working day overlap in CET
- Fluent English (written and spoken)
**Helpful but not required:**
- Atlassian cloud administration (Jira, Confluence)
- Lucid administration
- Endpoint management (Intune or equivalent)
- Azure DevOps pipelines or similar CI/CD
- Games studio or engineering-focused company experience
