Xero's Productivity and Collaboration team is seeking a Senior Cloud Systems Engineer to design and build AI-enabled solutions that enhance the company's internal productivity ecosystem. You'll work on complex technical challenges rather than routine support tasks, focusing on engineering automation, integrations, and reliability improvements across tools like Atlassian, Google Workspace, Slack, and emerging AI platforms.
In this role, you'll own significant technical problems end-to-end, contributing to architectural decisions and engineering standards. Your work will involve building integrations, establishing workflows, and creating guardrails that connect internal AI tools to the right systems and data. You'll shape how AI tools interact with Xero's productivity ecosystem while maintaining strong security practices and system reliability.
The Productivity and Collaboration team operates across Australia, New Zealand, the US, and Canada in a collaborative, diverse environment. You'll work in a hybrid setup in Vancouver with weekly team stand-ups and meetings, embracing asynchronous collaboration across time zones. The role is designed for hands-on technical contributors who want to stay deeply involved in engineering work while mentoring others.
You bring strong interpersonal skills and a confident, friendly approach to problem-solving. You have hands-on experience with automation and scripting in Python, PowerShell, and Bash, plus solid knowledge of integration design, APIs, and cloud-based productivity systems. You're adept at leveraging AI-powered tools to enhance efficiency and automate repetitive work. You communicate clearly—both written and verbally—and thrive in diverse team environments, contributing positively to culture through openness and a willingness to mentor.
